A Surprise for a Smile

It was 3^rd march, around 11pm when a cake vendor delivered a surprise in my hands, a birthday cake with a bouquet. With my sister’s help, I had to conceal the excitement, which was oozing out, until the stroke of midnight when my brother would turn 28. Gifts that were all ready and we were minutes away from the midnight; the whole thing was setup in the most photogenic room of our house. And to my surprise, the clock wasn’t running slow, the moment came, with all the family gathered around bhaiya, my bhabhi was on video call, and we were all singing the happy birthday song. He was smiling and it was contagious to everyone in the room. I was holding the phone so as to provide live coverage of the celebration. The candles were lit, cake was cut and on the phone screen I was holding, I saw happiness. She was in joy, was emotional and smiling all the time. Then I looked at my brother and he was just the same. And in that moment, I knew, this is it. This is his best birthday ever and now he is gonna be happy forever.
